Run8 train simulator is a sophisticated train simulator that offers the most realistic modelling of slack physics, complete multiplayer, automatic dispatching (nicknamed Otto), completely animated rolling stock, and functional display screens. Run 8 does not support mods with as much depth as other simulators prior to it so as to ensure compatibility between users for a smooth multiplayer experience.[1]
Features
Run 8 V1 offered multiplayer, complete slack physics modelling, and functional display screens in locomotives that were equipped with them. Run 8 V2 featured numerous bug fixes and expansions to routes and content.[1] Run 8 V3 added automatic dispatching and humping, graphics updates, and numerous other details like traction motor temperature modelling.[1] Run 8 doesn't really support mods except for repaints and horns.[2] Highball Run 8 runs 24/7 multiplayer servers for Run 8.[3] Over 108,000 multiplayer sessions have taken place since 2012. A class one railroad train master commented to the Run 8 team that Run 8 was more realistic than the software railroads are currently using to train their employees.
