Chitosan diacetate (CDA) is a chemical derivative of chitosan that can be synthesized by reaction with iodoacetic acid,. This polymer can be crosslinked with zinc chloride (ZnCl2), aluminum chloride (AlCl3), or calcium chloride (CaCl2), and the resulting matrices can be loaded with any drug. This crosslinking of chitosan diacetate matrices can modulate the drug release properties.[1][2]
