Freshworks, formerly Freshdesk, is a software as a service customer engagement company. It became the third startup company to get a unicorn tag in the year 2018.[1]
History
Freshworks was founded as Freshdesk by Girish Mathrubootham and Shan Krishnasamy in October 2010.[2] In June 2017, the company changed its name to Freshworks.[3]
The company has decided to go global by listing on the American stock exchange Nasdaq.[4]

Corporate affairs
Freshworks is headquartered in San Mateo, California.[7] (As of December 2019), the company has almost 2,500 employees.[8] The majority of their employees are located in India.[7] The company also has offices in 10 other locations including London, Berlin and Sydney.[7]
In November 2019, Freshworks opened a new development centre in Hyderabad.[8]
Funding
In July 2018, it was valued at $1.5 billion in Series H funding of $150 million led by Sequoia Capital, CapitalG and Accel to expand the business globally.[9][8] The funding made Freshworks the third startup company in India to receive the unicorn tag.[1]
In November 2019, it signed definitive agreements for a $150 million Series H round of funding at a post-financing valuation of $3.5 billion led by existing investors Sequoia Capital, CapitalG, and Freshworks’ first investor, Accel.[10]
Revenue
(As of December 2019), Freshworks has 250,000 customers.[7] Most of their customers are small and medium-sized businesses or middle-market companies.[7]
As per filings with Registrar of Companies (ROC), the company's revenue for the fiscal year ended March 2018 was reported as ₹259 crore (around $40 million) with a profit of around ₹21 crore.[4]
Acquisitions
In May 2019, Freshworks acquired Natero, a customer success service, for an undisclosed amount.[11]
In September 2019, Freshworks acquired CanvasFlip.[12]
