Bazoo is a freemium mobile strategy video game developed and published by the French studio IsCool Entertainment. The game combines a traditional puzzle gameplay and worldwide real-time player versus player fights. The game was released globally on April 10, 2017.
Gameplay
Bazoo has the basis of a puzzle game, where a player have to combin blocks to destroy them, plus an objective of filling the oponnent board before having its own board full of blocks. Four combinations exist: dogs and bones, rabbits and carrots, squirrels and nuts, koalas and eucalyptus. As soon as a block is destroyed, it immediately go on the oponnent board, making his game even more difficult. To make harder attacks, players can do combos, which are successions of blocks destruction (a dog eats a bone, which makes a rabbit eat a carrot, etc.). Best players can do X6 or X7 combos, which are called "Epic combos".
The main specificity of the game is its "no pay-to-win" and total equity system. Players receive the same blocks, in the same order, so that both opponents have the same chance to win.
Bazoo is divided in three modes: classic ladders (local and world leaderboards), leagues (9 leagues with a promotion and relegation system) and tournaments, where players can create their own private tournament and reward the winners.
The character each player owns is a monkey, which can be customized through paid skins. Even if the monkey doesn't affect the game, it represents the identity of each player, who can use thousand of possible combinations to get his/her unique avatar.
Release
The game was soft-launched worldwide for Android platforms on October, 2016. Android and iOS received a global release on April 10, 2017.
Bazoo was immediately featured in "New games we love" section of the most worldwide iOS App Store as well as the "Top New Apps" section of the worldwide Google Play Store.
Reception
Bazoo was positively received by mobile game specialists and players. Pocket Gamer compared it to "intense and frenzied battles commonly found amongst movies and manga" [1] whereas it received more than 3500 five-stars reviews on the Google Play Store.
