Chocobo Land: A Game of Dice (チョコボランド A Game of Dice, Chokobo Rando) is a digital board game and part of the Chocobo series, a spin-off of the Final Fantasy series. It was released in Japan on December 13, 2002 for the Game Boy Advance.[1] The game is an enhanced version of the title Dice de Chocobo, part of the 1999 Chocobo Collection for PlayStation.[2]

Gameplay

The player character is a Chocobo, who is trying to beat the board game world in order to return his friends and himself to the real world. From the overworld map, the player can select the region they would like to play in. Each region has its own board design and opponent; as the game progresses, the player will face more (up to three) computer controlled opponents at a time. If a region us replayed after completion, more playing pieces can be gained.

Reception

In a preview, Bakudan Yoshinoya of Nintendo World Report called the game a "solid title", stating that he believed the multiplayer would drive the game.[3] In a review, Game Boy Magazyn compared the game to Monopoly, calling it addictive once the rules were learned. Saying they were delighted by the graphics, they nevertheless described the music as "childish" and "not very catchy".[4]
