FCIV.NET Freeciv 3D version is an open source project with the goal of creating a 3D version of the strategy game Freeciv. It uses the Three.js 3D engine and the source code is available on GitHub. Freeciv 3D for the web has been in development since 2016.[1][2][3][4][5]

FCIV.NET is playable online for free on fciv.net. It has a similar goal as Lichess and other open source games, which is to create an open source and accessible platform for playing Freeciv in the browser.

FCIV.NET is innovative in that it uses ChatGPT as an assistant for the players and for chat dialogs with the in-game AI players.[6]

FCIV.NET is a distinct different fork of the Freeciv project, which is developed by different people and has a focus on creating a 3D version for the web, while the Freeciv project has more focus on the 2D desktop software version of Freeciv. [7]
