PUBG: New State (stylized as PUBG: NEW STATE) is an upcoming futuristic style multiplayer online battle royale video game slated for release in 2021 developed by PUBG Studios and published by Krafton. It is the second installment in the PUBG universe as a sequel to PUBG MOBILE, the mobile version of the original PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds game. It is planned to be released for iOS, Android through the App Store and Google Play.[4]
Gameplay
The PUBG: New State features gameplay and controls similar to that of the PUBG Mobile, 100 players are deployed on a remote island named TROI, to Gather supplies and fight against each other while struggling for survival and the last one stands become winner. The 8⨯8 TROI map is set in the year 2051 with futuristic environment, buildings, architectures and monuments.[5] New features include Drones, ballistic shields, neon sights, combat roll ability, reviving teammates and 'recruiting' knocked out enemies in addition to the gameplay featured in the PUBG Mobile are some of the new mechanics in PUBG: NEW STATE.[6] The vehicles include futuristic bikes, cars and buggies. The New State will feature interactable objects and buildings with destructible windows. The map features a defunct shopping mall.[7] It will feature weapon customization with different fire mode selection, grenade launcher with additional attachments and other performance enhancements.[8]
According to Krafton, the game is expected to feature "state-of-the-art Global Illumination rendering technology" for improved graphics without impacting the performance.[9]
Development
In February 2021, PUBG Studios announced the development of a separate entity PUBG: NEW STATE, as a sequel to PUBG Mobile, set in the near-future (year: 2051) as a part of the PUBG Universe.[10] It is developed by PUBG Studios an internal division of the South Korean video game developer Krafton.
In July 2021, Krafton reported that the game surpassed 20 million pre-registrations on Google Play Store alone, making it a strong rival and direct competition to the newly announced Apex Legends Mobile from Electronic Arts. The game is set to release in October 2021.[11] On 28 August the Alpha testing has concluded after conducting in 28 countries.[12][13] In September 2021, since the pre-registration has started for iOS, the game has surpassed more than 50 million pre-registrations combined on both Google Play and App Store, beating a record of pre-registrations. Release
The game is set to release worldwide on November 11, 2021, for both iOS and Android.[16]
