Pixelfed is a federated social image sharing platform. Federation is done using the ActivityPub protocol, making it part of the Fediverse. PixelFed can share and interact through ActivityPub platforms, as well as other instances of PixelFed.[3] It allows sharing pictures with Friendica,[4] Mastodon, Nextcloud, PeerTube, Pleroma, among others. It's often depicted as an alternative to popular photo sharing platforms as Instagram, [5][6]
