Aspergillus novoparasiticus is a species of fungus in the genus Aspergillus. It is from the Flavi section.[1] The species was first described in 2011.[1] It has been reported to produce aflatoxin B1, aflatoxin B2, aflatoxin G1, and aflatoxin G2.[1] A. novoparasiticus has been isolated from hospital patients.[1] Recently, it has been reported in maize from Brazil.[citation needed]
Growth and morphology
A. novoparasiticus has been cultivated on both Czapek yeast extract agar (CYA) plates and Malt Extract Agar Oxoid® (MEAOX) plates. The growth morphology of the colonies can be seen in the pictures below.
