Knowledge Media Foundation (KMF) [1] is a nonprofit organization to support decentralizing web access to knowledge-based resources. This includes encyclopedic articles, wiki books and manuals, tutorials, code examples covering educational, academic, scientific, computing and cultural heritage. The foundation provides open access technologies and content services, digital solutions, and collaboration with knowledge communities worldwide.
The KMF was created in 2026. It is located in West Chicago (IL) and has the 501(c)(3) nonprofit status (in progress).

Operation
The KMF foundation is organized into two primary units of focus for open access initiatives:
- Providing services for free access to scholarly (encyclopedic) articles, wiki books, and blogs under open-source Commons Attribution-Share-Alike License and licenses provided by their contributors. These services are provided by the HandWiki portal.
- Providing and maintaining community-supported open source software, hosting services for such software, associated documentation, online tutorials and training. These services are provided by JWork and DataMelt portals.
Projects
Since 2026 the KMF team supports the following projects:
- HandWiki - a wiki encyclopedia of knowledge, one of the largest after Wikipedia encyclopedia
- JWork - an open platform "Digital Science" for sharing ideas, knowledge, and discoveries in science, technology, and general topics
- DataMelt - documentation of one of the largest open-source computational platforms for statistics, data analysis and data visualization.
