NGC 940 is a lenticular galaxy in the constellation Triangulum. It is estimated to be 222 million light-years from the Milky Way[3] and has a diameter of approximately 80,000 ly. NGC 940 was discovered by Heinrich d'Arrest.[4][5][6]

One supernova, SN 2021vtl (type Ia, mag. 17.3), was discovered in NGC 940 on 11 August, 2021.[7]
