The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 5 is a rugged Android-based tablet computer manufactured, developed, designed and produced by Samsung Electronics. It was announced on January 10, 2024 and released on January 23, 2024, while its Pro model was announced on April 14, 2025 and released on May 7, 2025, alongside the Galaxy Xcover 7. It serves as the successor to the Galaxy Tab Active 4 Pro. The device is specifically engineered for industrial, field-work, and enterprise environments.[1]

Hardware and design

The Galaxy Tab Active 5 features an 8.0-inch WUXGA display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is powered by the Exynos 1380 chipset and includes a 5,050 mAh user-replaceable battery. The device is IP68 certified for water and dust resistance and meets MIL-STD-810H military standards for durability.[2]

Enterprise Edition features

The Enterprise Edition (Model SM-X306B) includes specialized tools and extended support for business fleet management:

  • Knox Suite: Includes a one-year license for automated device enrollment, management, and security analysis.
  • Extended Lifecycle: Samsung guarantees a three-year product availability lifecycle to ensure consistent hardware rollouts for businesses.[3]
  • Software Support: The device is eligible for an extended software support lifecycle, providing up to 8 years of security maintenance releases in specific regions.[4]
  • No-Battery Mode: A specialized power mode allowing the device to operate without a physical battery when connected to a dedicated power source (USB-C), preventing battery degradation in vehicle-mounted use cases.[5]
  • Dual SIM Support: The Enterprise model typically supports a physical Nano-SIM alongside an eSIM.
