ATV: Quad Power Racing 3 is a cancelled all-terrain vehicle racing video game and would be the sequel to ATV. It was due for release in the Winter of 2005, but was cancelled after Acclaim closed down Acclaim Studios Manchester in order to refrain from their financial difficulties and eventual bankruptcy.[1]
Gameplay
ATV Quad Power Racing 3 would have the same basic gameplay as the other games in the series, but would have new additions like a Trick Editor, where the player would make their own tricks for the ATVs, which there would be 25 of in the game.[2]
There would also be an assortment of tracks to choose and modes like single race, freestyle, championship, arcade, time trial, and multiplayer would also be featured, as well as online play with up to 6 players, which would be a first in the series.
Announcement and cancellation
ATV: Quad Power Racing 3 was announced by Acclaim at E3 of 2004, alongside other games published by the company such as Juiced, Emergency Mayhem, The Red Star and Interview with a Made Man. Acclaim, however, was suffering from major financial difficulties during this time and eventually closed down Acclaim Studios Manchester and sister studio Acclaim Studios Cheltenham before their eventual bankruptcy on August 30, 2004.
Many of the unfinished Acclaim projects were moved on to other developers and publishers, but ATV: Quad Power Racing 3 was one of the titles that were canceled and never finished. The Xbox version's files were later dumped onto The ISO Zone in Mid 2005, although the game was referred as ATV 3: Lawless, which was possibly gonna be the final title of the game.
