Genesis3D is a game engine created by Eclipse Entertainment.[1] It was distributed as free open-source software and later under an open-source license.[2] In 1999, Eclipse had been acquired by WildTangent, which overtook development.[3] The engine aims at rendering indoor scenes with moderate polygon counts at high performances.[citation needed] The first beta version of the engine was released on July 30, 1998.[4] Release Candidate 1 was shipped on March 2, 1999.[5]
