Molybdenum cofactor has two meanings, which are sometimes used interchangeably:[1]
- Molybdopterin, the organophosphate-dithiolate ligand that binds Mo and W in most molybdenum-containing and tungstun-containing proteins. It contains no molybdenum.
- FeMoco, the metal cluster in nitrogenases that contains Fe, Mo, and S.
