Escherichia virus MS2 |
Levivirus is a genus of viruses, in the family Leviviridae. Enterobacteria serve as natural hosts. There are currently only two species in this genus including the type species Escherichia virus MS2.[1][2]
Taxonomy
Group: ssRNA(+)
- Family: Leviviridae
- Genus: Levivirus
- Escherichia virus BZ13
- Escherichia virus MS2
Structure
Viruses in Levivirus are non-enveloped, with icosahedral and Spherical geometries, and T=3 symmetry. The diameter is around 26 nm. Genomes are linear and non-segmented, around 4kb in length. The genome codes for 4 proteins.[1]

Life cycle
Entry into the host cell is achieved by adsorption into the host cell. Replication follows the positive stranded RNA virus replication model. Positive stranded RNA virus transcription is the method of transcription. The virus exits the host cell by bacteria lysis. Enterobacteria serve as the natural host.[1]
