Bomberman GB 3[lower-alpha 1] is the third entry into the Bomberman GB series developed and published by Hudson Soft. It was released in Japan on December 20 1996. The game was re-released on the Japanese 3DS eShop on July 11 2012, the only title in the GB series to get a re-release on a different console.

Story

The 11th planet of Bomber Nebula is in danger!! Due to a change in the planet's crust, Devil Bomber was released from his seal. Together with his subordinates, he conquered the whole planet in a rampage. Devil Bomber stole all of the Bomber Capsules, the energy source that Bomberman relies on, severely injuring him... Nevertheless, Bomberman alone musters his strength and challenges Devil Bomber!

Gameplay

Similar to previous entries, Bomberman GB 3 has the player move around on a grid blowing up enemies and completing objectives within a time limit.

Bomberman GB 3 built upon the foundations set by previous titles by offering unique objectives that have to be completed in order to progress as well as a more 'open' progression system giving the player freedom to play any stage in any order they choose within the three playable worlds. Players were also able to unlock powerups in any order adding a level of customisation not previously seen in the handheld series.

This entry would see players carving their own path through the game; rather than playing through the game in linear order, players can choose which of three worlds to tackle in any order they please.

GB 3 is the only entry in the 'GB' series not to include the traditional multiplayer mode which the series was famous for. Replacing this is a new 'challenge mode' built around high scores and time attack.
