For a guide to adding IPA characters to Wikipedia articles, see {{IPA-pa}} and Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Pronunciation § Entering IPA characters.

  4. /ɾ/ may be either tapped [ɾ] or trilled [r] depending on the speaker and variety.
  5. 5.0 5.1 5.2 5.3 /iː, ɪ/ and /uː, ʊ/ are neutralized to [i, u] at the end of a word.
  6. Example Portuguese: São Paulo
  7. In any word, there is a choice of three tones: high-falling (ì), low-rising (í), and level (i)
