Dioxygen monofluoride is a binary inorganic compound radical of fluorine and oxygen with the chemical formula O
2F.[1][2][3] The compound is stable only at low temperature. This is one of many known oxygen fluorides.[4]
Synthesis
- Thermal decomposition of dioxygen difluoride:[5]
- O
2F
2 → F + O
2F - F + F → F
2
- O
- Photolysis of F
2 and O
2 dilute in argon:
